Where the streets have no name
Driving the back roads and alleys of Utah, Arizona and Wyoming in September 2017. Two people in a way addicted to photography, at the front seats of the car. Not too hard to imagine that progress (measured as mileage) was very limited. They got used to sudden slow-downs or U-turns for a photo opportunity.  In pursuit of the unexpected, routes different from center or main street were taken. In some cases, trapped in dead-end streets.
The photos on this page are a renewed experience with black & white photography.
In the past, many years ago, I have been working with the Ilford materials such as FP4 and HP5 film and the Ilfospeed 'paper'. I fancied so much the blackness and the grains of this material. Spending hours in the dark room, with my nose above the developer, stop and fixer baths. Using dodging and burning techniques. Often my hands smelled like the developer chemicals: rubbing local areas of the paper by hand, as to locally warm up the paper, accelerating the development process.
Being in the digital age, the whole process has been made so much easier. However, I am excited that still I very much appreciate this style.
